Teaching

Our group is dedicated to fostering the next generation of scientists through enthusiastic, inclusive, and hands-on training. We believe that education is not merely the transfer of knowledge, but a shared journey of curiosity, critical thinking, and discovery. In our lab, mentorship is central: we encourage independent thinking, nurture scientific rigor, and support the personal and academic growth of every student and researcher.

We are equally committed to teaching biochemistry to medical students, helping them build a strong foundation in the molecular mechanisms that shape human health and disease. By connecting biochemical principles to clinical contexts, we aim to inspire future physicians and scientists to appreciate the beauty and importance of molecular life sciences.

  • Learn @Bremm lab

Curious about how cells stay healthy? Join us and explore ubiquitin signaling, autophagy, and organelle biology in a supportive research environment.

We welcome highly motivated students who are interested in gaining hands-on research experience during an internship. You will have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge techniques in molecular and cell biology, contribute to ongoing projects, and explore how basic research connects to human disease.

Students are also welcome to join our lab for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.

Interested in doing a PhD? Or joining our team as postdoctoral fellow? Let’s explore funding options together.

Get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!

  • Biochemistry for medical students

All members of the Bremm lab actively teach within the practical course Biochemistry & Molecular Biology for medical students at Goethe University (2nd/3rd semester).

Anja also gives biochemistry lectures and supervises accompanying seminars for 4th-semester medical students. In these courses, students review the full spectrum of biochemistry and molecular biology covered during the pre-clinical phase. The seminar combines talks prepared by students, interactive elements using a TED system, and presentations by the lecturer.

  • Summer School

Anja is a lecturer at the Frankfurt Medical Summer School. This is a special one week course offering for intensive preparation for the medical M1 exam (Physikum), which is organized by lecturers from anatomy, biochemistry and physiology at Goethe University Hospital on their own initiative as a non-profit event. Interactive teaching is intended to prepare the participating students comprehensively and sustainably for the upcoming examination. The intensive course with 50 students and around 12 lecturers take place in Riezlern in Kleinwalsertal, Austria.

  • Master of Science "Molecular Medicine" at Goethe University Frankfurt

The master's degree program aims to provide advanced training in the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human organ function and disease. With a focus on drug research, cardiovascular science, oncology, and immunology, it equips students with methodological and conceptual skills for independent basic and translational research and fosters responsible scientific thinking.

Within the lecture series Molecular Oncology and Tumor Immunology (MOT), Anja presents the lecture “Ubiquitin-Proteasome-System & Autophagie”.
